[KBA-79072] Live or playback feed is frozen on computers running Intel 11th Gen and Intel Xe graphics card

This article explains why live or playback feed is frozen on computers running Intel 11th Gen and Intel Xe graphics card.

Symptoms

Live and playback video remains frozen in Security Desk while the timeline keeps moving.

This occurs in new computers with Intel 11th Gen processor and Intel XE Iris graphics card on live and playback feeds.

Cause

This anomaly is caused due to Microsoft WPF/Intel driver bug (bug 4013495876).

Workaround

  1. Press + R.
  2. Type CMD.
  3. Click OK.
  4. Copy and paste the following into the Command Prompt and press Enter:
    reg add HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Avalon.Graphics /v DisableHWAcceleration /t REG_DWORD /d 1
  5. Reboot the machine.
    NOTE: This might have a performance cost during the rendering operation.
