[KBA-00609] Omnicast™ playback speeds do not work properly at 6x and higher
The article explains why playback speeds in Omnicast™ are not respected at 6x and higher.
When viewing archived video in the Archive Player at playback speeds of 6x and higher, the speed is not respected and is much faster. This does not occur for 2x or 4x playback speeds.
This behavior is related to the key frame interval you are using. The faster the interval, the more precise the playback speed will be.
For example, if you are using an interval of 1 key frame every 4 seconds, you will have an accurate playback speed when using 2x or 4x because all frames are used. However, as soon as you go over 4x, Omnicast™ falls into Key Frame Playback Mode. In this case, playback plays a key frame every 100 milliseconds, and if there are not enough key frames playback will be much faster than the desired speed.
This is the way the feature has been designed.
The playback speed issue can be limited by reducing your key frame interval in the Video Quality tab in Config Tool.
When recording in MJPEG, playback should work fine.
