The maximum number of cameras that can be added to an instance of the Flexreader™ plugin depends on the configuration of the video cameras and the performance of the server running the plugin.
Benchmarking hardware
The SV-1000 and SV-32v3 Network Security Appliances were chosen as the hardware used to test the capabilities of the Flexreader™ plugin.
For benchmarking tests, a typical Security Center – AutoVu™ system was running on the appliances. This included Security Center and the related server roles, the Flexreader™ plugin, and SQL Server.

Number of supported cameras
The following table shows how the maximum number of cameras that can be added to an appliance running the Flexreader™ plugin is affected by the resolution and frame rate that are configured for the cameras.
- The number of cameras that the Flexreader™ plugin role can support depends on the resolution and frame rate configured for the cameras as well as the hardware of the server hosting the plugin. If you notice slow system performance, too many cameras might be added to the plugin role. In this case, you must create additional instances of the plugin on separate servers and balance the number of cameras assigned to each instance. - Flexreader™ make use of hardware acceleration for H.264 decompression when available. It offers better performance if the processor support Intel QuickSync. In general, Intel Xeon processors do not offer hardware acceleration.
