If you are not adding the SharpV camera from
Security
Center using the LPM protocol, you can
configure the camera to send ALPR data to an FTP or HTTP server.
What you should know
- For SharpV cameras that have been upgraded
to SharpOS 12.7 or later and have been
upgraded to use the LPM Protocol, or for new SharpV cameras that were shipped with SharpOS 12.7 or later, you do not need to
select an extension. When you add the camera to the ALPR Manager using the LPM
protocol, the setting is added and automatically selected.
- If the SharpV is connected to Security
Center, plate reads are automatically
stored if the connection is lost. The SharpV
can store up to 20 000 plate reads with their associated images.
- For FTP and HTTP extensions, plate reads and images are automatically stored if the
connection is lost, however, you can disable edge storage using the Retain
data when the connection is lost setting in the extension
configuration. To reduce cellular data usage, you can also configure whether the ALPR
and context images are exported.
Procedure
-
Log on to the Sharp
Portal.
-
From the Configuration menu, select the page.
-
From the Extension type drop-down list, select one of the
following:
- FTP
- Use this option to send ALPR data to an FTP server. You can
configure the FTP XML template which can be integrated by third-party applications.
For more information, see Configuring the SharpV FTP extension.
- HTTP
- Use this option to send ALPR data to an HTTP server. You can configure the
system to send the data in XML or JSON format. For more information and
examples of the exported XML and JSON files, see Configuring an HTTP extension in the SharpOS 13.6 Portal.
- Security
Center (LPM protocol)
- By default, LPM protocol is not an available extension. When a
SharpV (SharpOS 12.7 and later) is manually added to
the ALPR Manager (Security
Center 5.8 and
later), the LPM protocol is automatically selected as the unit’s extension
type.
-
Security
Center
(Legacy)
- Use this option to send ALPR data to the ALPR Manager if
connecting to Security
Center 5.7 or
earlier.
NOTE: If the unit connects to Security
Center using the LPM protocol, this option
is replaced by Security
Center
(LPM protocol).
-
- This unit manages the connection to Security
Center
- Use this only if the autodiscovery of the connected SharpV does not work (see SharpV camera connections
to Security Center) or if you cannot manually add the SharpV to the ALPR Manager. You must enter the
Server address and Port of the
server running the ALPR Manager role. For example, if a SharpV is connected to a WiFi router, and the camera’s IP
address is then changed, the ALPR Manager cannot detect the change
automatically, so you can use this to reconnect to the Security
Center computer.
IMPORTANT:
- When using this option, no failover is available if the server connection
is lost.
- Avoid the following configuration situations. Correcting these situations
requires either assistance from AutoVu™ Support or the deletion and
recreation of the ALPR Manager role:
- Establishing a connection using This unit manages the connection to
Security
Center, then
clearing the check box and saving again.
- Adding the unit from Config
Tool, establishing a
connection, and then selecting This unit manages the connection to
Security
Center, and
saving.
- Discovery port
- Port on which the SharpV listens for discovery
requests. This port number must match the discovery port entered on the ALPR
Manager Properties page.
NOTE: When setting the
discovery port, do not use port 5050 as it is reserved for the logger
service.
- Control port
- Used in Security
Center
Config
Tool when creating a new
ALPR unit (SharpV) manually.
