If the SharpV unit is not reading license plates and the video feed in the Sharp Portal is black, the unit's illuminator might not be working due to insufficient power.
Cause
- SharpV G3 units require PoE++ (Power over
Ethernet) 802.3bt Type 3: 27 W typical, 40 W max. Older SharpV hardware versions required
different PoE standards. If the correct PoE standard is not provided, the system can be
unstable or lose functionality.NOTE: The Overview page of the Sharp Portal displays the Power source currently connected to the camera.
- If you are replacing a SharpV G1 or G2 unit with a SharpV G3 unit, you cannot use the existing power source.

Solution
Verify that the SharpV unit is receiving power from a PoE++ power source that conforms to the PoE++ 802.3bt standard (Type 3 40 W). For more information, see Specifications for the SharpV.
