If the SharpV unit is not reading license plates and the video feed in the Sharp Portal is black, the unit's illuminator might not be working due to insufficient power.

Cause

  • SharpV G3 units require PoE++ (Power over Ethernet) 802.3bt Type 3: 27 W typical, 40 W max. Older SharpV hardware versions required different PoE standards. If the correct PoE standard is not provided, the system can be unstable or lose functionality.
NOTE: The Overview page of the Sharp Portal displays the Power source currently connected to the camera.
  • If you are replacing a SharpV G1 or G2 unit with a SharpV G3 unit, you cannot use the existing power source.
