You can connect the SharpV camera to an
external digital input or external relay using the provided IP67-rated input/output (I/O) cable
plug.
What you should know
- To create the connection, you will need wire strippers and a 2 mm flat-head
screwdriver.
- In some installation scenarios, the I/O connector is also used to supply 24 V dc to the
unit. For more information, see About powering the SharpV G3 using 24 V dc.
- If the I/O connector is not used, ensure that the protective cap is fully
tightened.
Procedure
-
Disassemble the connector into its four parts.
-
Slide the sealing nut onto the cable.
-
Select the small or large rubber seal depending on the cable diameter and slide the
rubber seal onto the cable.
Seal |
Cable diameter |
Small |
4 mm to 6 mm |
Large |
6 mm to 8 mm |
-
Slide the connector housing onto the cable.
-
Remove 30 mm (1.2 in) of cable jacket and 7 mm (0.2 in) of wire jacket.
-
Insert the wires into the coupling nut terminals and tighten the terminal screws using
a 2 mm flat-head screwdriver.

-
Slide the connector housing onto the coupling nut and tighten by hand.
-
Insert the rubber seal until it is flush with the connector housing.
-
Slide the sealing nut onto the connector housing and tighten by hand.
-
Align the guides on the connector and the SharpV I/O port.
-
Tighten the metal ring by hand.
IMPORTANT:
- Do not twist the plastic components. Tighten only the metal ring.
