AutoVu™ SharpV OS 14.4.0 includes important new features as well as updates for bug fixes and security-related issues.

New look and feel

The Sharp Portal has been redesigned for an improved user experience.

Refreshed interface
The Sharp Portal has an updated look with refreshed colors and button styles, while maintaining a familiar overall design.
Enhanced security
SharpV OS has been rebuilt with a new codebase, which enhances security by incorporating the latest security practices, addressing vulnerabilities, and ensuring robust protection against threats.

Manually adjust analytics behavior

If the recommended regional ALPR context for your region has trouble detecting certain license plates, you can now fine-tune the analytics behavior by adjusting the expected letter and number sequence. This is useful if, for example, new license plates are issued with different character sequences than those defined in the regional ALPR context. For information, see Configuring analytics behavior.

Improved GPS precision

SharpV OS now provides a more accurate GPS location. GPS points are measured over time, then the points are converged to give a single precise location for the unit.

Longer passwords

New passwords for the Sharp Portal must now be at least 12 characters long. Existing short passwords will still work, but it is recommended that you change your password to benefit from the improved security of a long password.

Metadata for NOPLATE reads

If the Virtual Loop feature generates a NOPLATE license plate read due to a damaged or dirty plate not being captured by the ALPR camera, the read now includes all available metadata, such as vehicle make and model.

Regional ALPR context for Taiwan

The Analytics page of the Sharp Portal now includes a regional ALPR context for detecting license plates from Taiwan.

Improved regional ALPR contexts

The following contexts have been improved:

Europe
The list of typical license plate character patterns that are present in the region has been updated.
Oklahoma
Now supports plates with 3 stacked characters.

Vehicle make recognition

SharpV can now identify vehicles from the following manufacturers:

  • Alfa Romeo
  • Citroen
  • Dacia
  • DS
  • Genesis
  • Hummer
  • Jaguar
  • Lancia
  • Lotus
  • Maserati
  • Opel
  • Peugeot
  • Polestar
  • Renault
  • Seat
  • Skoda
  • Tesla
NOTE: The SharpV unit makes a best effort to identify the vehicle's make and model, but specific results are not guaranteed. As this feature develops, identification accuracy will continue to improve.

For more information on the vehicle make and model recognition, see Supported ALPR analytics.

Inventory page removed

The Inventory page in the Sharp Portal has been removed. The page displayed information on system hardware, which is more useful for SharpZ3 systems running SharpZ3 OS.
