This section lists the settings found in the Network page of the Sharp Portal. Use the Network page to configure the SharpZ3 to use Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) or a static IP address.

To navigate to the Network page, click Configuration > Network.

IPv4 network settings

Use DHCP
If the patrol vehicle uses a DHCP server, you can configure the SharpZ3 system for DHCP. Consider the following:
  • When a SharpZ3 system is configured to use DHCP, the setting applies to the ALPR module, but does not apply to expansion modules. Expansion modules connected to the base unit always use static IP addresses that are defined on the Network page. For the expansion modules to work with the DHCP system, you must configure a compatible Subnet mask and IP address for each module.
  • On first connection, the SharpZ3 system attempts to find a DHCP address for its one or two ALPR modules, depending on the system. If no DHCP is present, the system defaults the two modules to 192.168.10.1 and 192.168.10.2 as shown in the Static IP addresses table.
NOTE: The default fallback takes at least 2 minutes to become effective when no DHCP server is detected at bootup.
Use static IP address
If the SharpZ3 must use addresses withing a specific range, you can configure static addresses for the modules.
IMPORTANT: When assigning specific IP addresses, ensure the configuration stays compatible with the rest of the system, otherwise the base unit, expansion modules, or aux cameras might be unreachable. For example, it is important that all components be on the same subnet.
IMPORTANT: You must use a fixed IP address if you want to stream video to the Security Center Archiver role. You can do this using a static IP address or a reserved IP address on the DHCP server.
IP address
Enter the new IP address you want to assign to the ALPR module. The default is 192.168.10.1 (port 1 and 2) and 192.168.10.2 (port 3 and 4).
Subnet mask
Enter the new Subnet mask for the ALPR module, if applicable. The default is 255.255.255.0.
IMPORTANT: When assigning specific IP addresses, ensure the configuration stays compatible with the rest of the system, otherwise the base unit, expansion modules, or aux cameras might be unreachable. For example, it is important that all components be on the same subnet.
Gateway
Enter the new Gateway for the ALPR module, if applicable. The default is 10.0.0.0.
DNS
Enter the new DNS for the ALPR module, if applicable. The default is 10.0.0.0.

EXP module settings

IP address
Enter the new IP address that you want to assign to the expansion module. The default IP address depends on which expansion slot the module is installed in.
Subnet mask
Enter the new Subnet mask for the expansion module, if applicable. The default is 255.255.255.0.
