New SharpZ3 systems include second-generation SharpZ3 G2 cameras. Both the G1 and G2 cameras are compatible with the SharpZ3 base unit and there are only slight differences in size, weight, and temperature rating.
NOTE:
- To use SharpZ3 G2 cameras, the SharpZ3 system must be running SharpZ3 OS 13.7.2 or higher.
- SharpZ3 G1 and G2 cameras use the same cable connectors.
- SharpZ3 G2 cameras feature improved humidity management, and the maximum operating temperature has increased from 55°C (131°F) to 60°C (140°F).
- SharpZ3 G2 cameras include the same integrated t-slot as SharpZ3 G1 cameras. If you need to replace a camera, the SharpZ3 G2 camera can be mounted to the existing hardmount or lightbar brackets.
- SharpZ3 G2 cameras are slightly taller and longer than the previous SharpZ3 G1
cameras. If you are replacing a camera that is installed close to other hardware, such
as a light bar, you might need to adjust the camera bracket.
- The threaded holes on the back of the SharpZ3 G2 camera are only used for attaching the sun visor (not required for white cameras). On SharpZ3 G1 cameras, the holes were available for custom mounting solutions.
- After replacing a SharpZ3 camera, you must realign the camera. For more information, see Aligning the SharpZ3 cameras.
- This guide includes information for SharpZ3 G2 cameras only. For SharpZ3 G1 installations, refer to the Installation Guide for SharpZ3 G1 cameras on TechDoc Hub.
