To troubleshoot many technical issues, you should first capture a log trace.

What you should know

  • Log traces can fill up disk space quickly.
  • Running out of space on your C: drive will cause critical errors
  • Check your disk space and if possible, configure a log folder on a non-critical drive.

Procedure

  1. From the Server Admin homepage, select your server.
  2. Select Actions > Console.
    the Debug consolepage opens.
  3. Click the Trace logger tab.
  4. Create favorites:
    1. Below the loggers list, click Add ().
    2. In the Name field, enter a name for the trace logger.
The Trace logger name field with CCURE entered.
    3. In the Log folder field, enter a filepath to the folder you want to use.
If you do not define a specific folder, the log traces are saved to C:\ProgramData\Genetec Security Center 5.x\Logs.
    4. In the Loggers section, click Add.
    5. In the Search field, enter Genetec.Plugins.CCURE
    6. From the list that opens, select the Genetec.Plugins.CCure trace logger.
NOTE: The Genetec.Plugins.CCure logger line will only appear if there is an active plugin role running on the server.
    7. Below the trace loggers list, select all of the log levels icons. The icons of selected log levels are colored, while inactive log levels have gray icons.
The Active loggers icons in Server Admin with all icons active.
    8. Click Add.
  5. Click OK.
    Your favorite is created.
  6. From the favorites list, select the favorite you created and click Start ().
  7. To stop collecting log traces, select the trace logger and click Pause ().
  8. In File Explorer, navigate to the log folder and zip the log files using 7-Zip or another third-party compressor.
IMPORTANT: Using the Windows Compressed (zipped) folder solution fails to zip the log file due to the bullet character in the plugin name. Ensure that you use a third-party compressor that supports UTF filenames.

After you finish

Deactivate logging when the logs are no longer necessary.
