To see encrypted video streams on your computer, the stream must be decrypted. To do this, you export the Windows public certificate as a private key from the computer it is stored on, and then import the key to your computer.

What you should know

  • This task is done by the system integrator or system administrator.
  • Public certificates for Fusion Stream Encryption are in the Personal local machine certificate store of Microsoft Windows.
  • Although the screen captures shown are from Windows 7, the other versions of Windows are similar.

Procedure

  1. On the computer that has the public certificate, log on to Windows as an administrator.
  2. Open the local machine certificate store:
  3. Under Certificates - Local Computer, open Personal > Certificates.
  4. Right-click the certificate you want to export, then click All tasks > Export.
  5. In Certificate Export Wizard, press Next until the Export Private Key page.
  6. Select Yes, export the private key, and then press Next.
  7. Press Next until the Security page.
  8. In the Security page, select the Password check box, enter a password, confirm the password, and then press Next.
Take note of the password. You will need it to import the key on another computer.
  9. In the File to Export page, enter the path to a local folder and a file name that ends with .pfx. For example: C:\tmp\MyCertificate.pfx.
  10. Click Next, and then click Finish.

Results

The public certificate has been exported as a Personal Information Exchange (.pfx). This file contains the private key that is required to decrypt information from the main server.

After you finish

Import the private key on another computer.
