The DMP intrusion panel extension is a software module that integrates the DMP intrusion panel into Security Center.
Components of DMP intrusion panel integration
- DMP intrusion panel extension
- The DMP intrusion panel extension is installed on a Security Center server and adds DMP intrusion panel as an extension to the Intrusion Manager role. The Intrusion Manager role must be active before you can import the panels and related entities. The Intrusion Manager role receives events from the panel, reports them live in Security Desk, and logs them in a database for future reporting. The role also relays user commands to the panel.
- Config Tool
- The DMP intrusion panel extension is also installed on a Config Tool workstation. The Security Center administrator uses Config Tool to create and configure the Intrusion Manager role. Using this role, integrators and administrators can add and manage the DMP intrusion panel.
- Security Desk
- The DMP intrusion panel extension is installed on all Security Desk workstations. Security Desk operators can monitor and control the intrusion panels.
- DMP XR-Series intrusion panel
- The DMP intrusion panels communicate with the extension over a TCP/IP Ethernet network.
Recommended use of DMP inputs
The main purpose of an input on a DMP intrusion panel is to trigger an alarm when the input state changes. When the input becomes active, the panel raises an alarm. Security Center uses this alarm to trigger an Intrusion detection area alarm activated event.
The DMP intrusion panels are not designed to capture rapid consecutive changes to their input states, such as doors being opened and closed rapidly, or motion sensors that detect constant movements. For this reason, we recommend that inputs on intrusion panels are only used for intrusion monitoring, and not for access control.
DMP intrusion panel connectivity options
When a DMP intrusion panel is enrolled using the Standard connection, the DMP intrusion extension communicates with the panel through the network programming port. When a transaction is complete, the extension releases the port.
The network programming port supports one remote session at a time; If a remote connection is already in progress when Security Center tries to connect to the intrusion panel, the connection fails and Security Center marks the panel as offline. When this happens, Security Center cannot synchronize or configure the panel, but still receives event notifications.
If you are using XR150/550-series intrusion panels with firmware 193 or later, you can use the Integrator or Entré connection to enroll your DMP intrusion detection panel, and free up the network programming port for use by Remote Link and other applications. Enrolling your DMP panel using the Integrator port or Entré port gives you the ability to enable the Always stay connected option. Use the Integrator port for communication between Security Center and the panel. Only use the Entré port for the Entré software by DMP.
Security Center releases its remote connection
During the following processes, Security Center connects to the panel, and then releases the connection when the process is completed:
- Enrolling a unit
- Requesting entity status (only for the first connection)
- Synchronizing the clock
- Configuring a DMP entity
- Synchronizing users; including pushing cardholders and pulling DMP user
- Sending an action, like bypass input
- Triggering outputs periodically
Except when outputs connect periodically
When an output's behavior is set as Periodic, Security Center maintains a remote connection to the panel indefinitely. If your DMP intrusion panel is enrolled using the Standard connection, then before you can configure the panel using another application, like Remote Link, you must first deactivate the intrusion detection unit in Security Center.
