To control a parking lot gate or garage door, you can either configure license plates as credentials in your Synergis™ access control system, or you can trigger the SharpV camera unit I/Os based on hotlist match events from Security Center.

NOTE:
  • For AutoVu™ Managed Services (AMS) systems, no gate control solutions are currently available. For more information, contact your Genetec™ representative.
  • The SharpV unit must be enrolled in the Archiver to control its I/Os. However, if a separate I/O module is already enrolled, enrolling the SharpV unit is not required.
  • For redundancy, you can set up two separate systems. For example, you can use the ALPR gate control method to trigger the gate for a VIP hotlist, and also configure a badge or PIN reader to open the gate.

The following table highlights the differences between the two gate control methods.

License plate as a credential ALPR gate control
Use case Synergis access control system where the parking access gate is configured as a door in the system and the SharpV unit acts as a reader. For more information, see Overview of AutoVu SharpV camera integration in Synergis Softwire. Gate control using the SharpV unit inputs and outputs triggered by hotlist match events from Security Center. For more information, see ALPR gate control.
Hardware Synergis Cloud Link appliance and a SharpV ALPR camera unit. SharpV ALPR camera unit.
Configuration Configure license plate credentials for cardholders in Security Center. The gate is configured as a door and the SharpV unit acts as a reader. The output on the SharpV unit or on an interface module opens the gate. With this method, you can also apply access rules and combinations of schedules and conditions. Configure hotlists and event-to-actions in Security Center.
Reports Synergis reports including the Cardholder activities report, Door activities report, People count report, and so on. ALPR reports including the Reads report, Hits report, and so on.
Offline functionality This method continues to work offline because cardholder credentials are stored on the Synergis Cloud Link appliance.
NOTE: The SharpV unit can be connected to the second Ethernet port on the Synergis Cloud Link appliance to create an isolated network.
No offline functionality. The SharpV unit must be connected to Security Center.
