What is Genetec Video Player?
Genetec™ Video Player is a standalone media player you can use to view G64 and G64x video files exported from Security Desk. You can also use it to view video on a computer that does not have Security Center installed.
What are G64 and G64x video files?
G64x and G64 are proprietary video formats that support audio, bookmarks, date-time information, and motion indicators. G64x also supports metadata overlays. All event markers are included in the exported file, except metadata markers. These formats also support variable frame rates and variable image resolution.
How can I view G64 or G64x video files?
You can use Security Desk to view G64 and G64x video files. On Windows computers without Security Desk, you can use the standalone Genetec™ Video Player.
Why can I not open G64 or G64x video files?
If you cannot open G64 or G64x video files, your version of the Genetec™ Video Player might be outdated. Make sure to use the latest version of the application.
Download the latest version from the Genetec™ Download Center and then double-click GenetecVideoPlayer.exe to open the application.
Alternatively, open the Genetec™ Video Player application as an administrator: right-click GenetecVideoPlayer.exe and select Run as administrator.
How do I convert G64 or G64x video files to ASF or MP4 format?
You can re-export G64 and G64x video files in Genetec™ Video Player if the video was exported from Security Center with the Allow the exported video file to be re-exported option enabled.
To re-export video from the Genetec™ Video Player, go to Save.

Yes, you can view multiple video files simultaneously in Genetec™ Video Player. When you select multiple files or drag-and-drop multiple files into the interface, viewing tiles are created automatically to display up to 64 videos simultaneously.

If you cannot see the playback controls or time stamps, your version of the Genetec™ Video Player might be outdated. Make sure to use the latest version of the application.

What if my problem persists with Genetec Video Player?
If your issue persists, open a support case via Genetec™ Technical Assistance Portal (GTAP) or contact your Genetec Sales Engineer or Regional Sales Manager.
If you do not have a GTAP account, go to the login page and submit the Technical Assistance (for users of Genetec solutions) form.
The average processing time for a registration request is 2 - 3 business days. Register your request using your organizational e-mail address. Requests from personal e-mail domains, such as Gmail, Yahoo, or Outlook, are denied by default.
