If DHCP isn’t available, you must apply a static IP before using a Genetec Cloudlink™ appliance.

Before you begin

Best Practice: Set up the appliance in a pre-deployment environment with DHCP and Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) enabled.

What you should know

  • By default, Cloudlink appliances use DHCP to obtain an IP address and are discoverable by UPnP. If an IP address can’t be obtained from DHCP, the appliance automatically falls back to a link-local address in the range of 169.254.0.0/16.

Procedure

  1. On a computer connected to the same subnet, open a web browser and connect to the appliance web page.
The address is https://<appliance> , where <appliance> is the hostname or IP address of the Cloudlink. The default hostname is printed on the unit label beside Nom/Name.

    To retrieve the IP address:

    • Use network discovery.
    • On Cloudlink 310 models, you can also connect a monitor to the appliance, which shows you a screen with networking information including the IP address.
    The appliance web page opens.
NOTE: Cloudlink appliances use a self-signed certificate. When connecting to the appliance, your browser might warn you that the connection is unsafe. You can ignore this message and proceed.
  2. Enter the username admin and your password, and click Sign in.
If you’re connecting to the appliance for the first time, the default password is printed on the unit label beside PWD. You’ll be asked to change this password after logging on.
IMPORTANT: The new password can’t be recovered if lost. If you lose your password, perform a factory reset of the unit.
  3. From the homepage, click the Settings tab.
    The Interfaces page opens.
  4. Under Interfaces, enter the IP configuration for Ethernet port 1, and for Ethernet port 2 if using an isolated network.
NOTE: To add name servers and search domains, you must click Add after each entry.
  5. Click Save.
The static IP configuration is applied. You might not be able to reconnect to the unit before moving it to the required location.

After you finish

Deploy the Cloudlink appliance in the static IP network.
