You can use the Automation page to configure Genetec Mission Control™ an incident workflow that automates system tasks, thereby freeing up the operator's time to monitor the floor. One useful scenario for such automation is the system resolving an incident by default when the trigger is a false positive.

Considerations for resolving incidents that are false-positives

You might have many alarms, events, and incidents triggered on a daily basis, not all of which are valid. Narrowing the list of incidents that need active investigation helps your operators prioritize their time better.

To resolve an incident that is a false positive, you need to consider the triggers for the incident. These triggers can be alarms, events or other incidents. For example, a door held open for longer than the configured time interval can trigger a Door held open event, which can be used trigger an incident on the operator's screen. If the door closes within a short amount of time, the incident can be resolved immediately.

All information related to entry times, door relock times, time interval after which an open door should trigger a Door held open event, and so on can be found in the configuration page of the door in question in the Area view window.

Incident configuration considerations for a Door entity

This example scenario is to detect false alarms related to a Door entity. To configure a Genetec Mission Control™ incident that helps you achieve this goal, you need to configure the following elements:
Triggers
Alarms or events that can be used to trigger a Door held open incident.
User procedure
Dynamic user procedure to guide the operators towards incident resolution.
Automation
Automation workflow that adapts to real-time operator responses to dynamic incident procedures.

Incident trigger and procedure configuration

Consider the stages of this incident, from being triggered to resolution. You must evaluate events that trigger this incident, the systems response to the triggers, and the operators input if required at any stage.

The trigger for this incident should be any door held open longer than the allowed time interval. You can configure that as follows:
  1. From the Config Tool home page, open the Incident configuration task, and select the incident you want to configure.
  2. Click the Triggers tab.
  3. Click Add event.
  4. Choose Door open too long under Events.

The default selection for source is Any source.

If the system evaluates this incident and deems it a false alarm, it can close the incident immediately. If the door remains open beyond the allowed time interval, the operator's involvement is required. The dynamic user procedure guides the operator into launching an investigation and calling the appropriate security teams to resolve the incident.
