To save configuration time, you can create incident types by making copies of an existing incident type, or copy parts of its configuration to other existing incident types.

Procedure

To create an incident type from an existing one:

  1. In the Incident configuration task, select the Incident configuration view.
  2. Right-click the incident type you want to use as model and click Copy ().
  3. Right-click an empty space or an incident category and click Paste ()
A deactivated (displayed in red) copy of the incident type you copied is created.
  4. Make the final adjustments to the configuration before you set the operational status to In service.

To copy parts of an incident type configuration to other existing incident types:

  1. In the Incident configuration task, select the Incident configuration view.
  2. Deactivate the destination incident types.
  3. Do one of the following:
    • Right-click an incident type and click Copy configuration tool ().
    • Click an incident type and click Copy configuration tool () at the bottom of the screen.
The Copy configuration tool dialog box opens with the incident type you selected as the model you want to copy from.
  4. Under Destination, select the incident types you want to copy to.

  5. Under Settings, select the groups of settings to want to copy.
If a particular setting does not apply to target incident type, it will be ignored.
  6. Click Apply.

After you finish

Make the final adjustments to the configurations before you activate (set to In service) the incident types.
