You can group incident types with similar characteristics by creating Genetec Mission Control™ incident categories.

What you should know

Incident categories can be nested to create a hierarchy of incident types.

Procedure

  1. In the Incident configuration task, select the Incident configuration view.
  2. Do one of the following:
    • Click an existing incident category to create a sub-category under it.
    • Click an existing incident type to create a top-level category.
  3. Do one of the following:
    • Click the small arrow beside the Incident () button, and then click Incident category ().
    • Right-click anywhere in the incident hierarchy and select Incident category ().
A new incident category named New category is added. By default, the Operational status is set to Not in Service.
  4. Enter the name of the category.
  5. In the Description field, enter the description of the category.
  6. Under Icon, select an existing icon or click Add to add a new one.
Mission Control entities share the same set of custom icons. You can use any PNG or JPG file as an icon. A PNG file with transparent background works best.
  7. Click Apply.
