Sometimes, one Genetec Mission Control™ incident leads to another. For example, a bomb threat can lead to an explosion, and then a fire. You can help gather valuable information by linking related incidents together, before and after the incidents are closed.

What you should know

You must have the Link incidents privilege to link related incidents together. However, you do not need to be the owner of the incident.

Procedure

To link one incident to another:

  1. In the Incident monitoring task, click the incident you want to work on (in the list or on the map).
The incident details are displayed in the dashboard.
  2. In the dashboard, click Related incidents.
The related incidents are divided into three groups:
    Incidents at the source
List of all incidents that are triggered from the same source as the selected incident.
    Similar incidents
List of incidents that are of the same type as the selected incident.
    Linked incidents
Incidents that are linked to the selected incident by users.

You can filter the first two lists (Incidents at the source and Similar incidents) by the last Hour, Day, Week, or Month.

  3. At the bottom of the Linked incidents section, click Add an item ().
  4. In the dialog box that appears, enter an Incident ID, click Add, and then click Yes.
To remove a linked incident, select it from the list, click Remove the item (), and then click Yes.

To link multiple incidents together in the Incident monitoring task:

  1. In Incident monitoring, select the incidents you want to link together (from the list or on the map).
  2. Right-click one of the selected incidents and select Link incidents.
To unlink multiple incidents in Incident monitoring, select the incidents you want to unlink (from the list or on the map). Right-click one of the selected incidents and select Unlink incidents..

To link multiple incidents together in the Incident report task:

  1. In Incident report, select the incidents you want to link together from the list.
  2. Click Link incidents.
To unlink multiple incidents in the Incident report, select the incidents you want to unlink from the list and click Unlink incidents.
