A Genetec Mission Control™ incident is an unusual or undesirable situation that requires actions to resolve.
In the preceding example, when three separate events occur at the same time (Door forced open, Motion detected on camera, and Glass break sensor activated), a Breaking and Entering incident is automatically triggered. An administrator configures this rule in the system. Multiple possible sources can be the cause of an incident, and they are usually not all active at the same time.
It is possible that witnesses report problems that do not automatically trigger incidents. When this happens, as a security operator, you can trigger incidents manually.
Incidents go through a series of preconfigured states which depend on actions performed by the operator and other events that occur in the system. When an incident is created, it is in the New state. When an operator responds to the incident, the state changes to In Progress. After all steps in the procedure are completed, or when the system events and alarms have all been acknowledged, the state changes to Resolved. The incident can then be Closed.
