You must install the mounting bracket so that the Genetec Motoscan™ main unit can be easily installed and removed from the scooter.

What you should know

To install the Genetec Motoscan™ mounting bracket, the scooter must be equipped with a luggage rack. The mounting bracket can be installed on most styles of luggage rack.

Procedure

  1. Position the mounting bracket on the scooter's luggage rack to find the best installation location.
Tip: The main unit is larger than the mounting bracket. It is recommended that you attach the main unit to the mounting bracket before choosing an installation location.
  2. Install the mounting bracket on the scooter's luggage rack using the two tie-down brackets.
      Component Description
A Mounting bolt To account for different luggage rack thicknesses and depending on whether the tie-down brackets are inverted, the following bolt options are provided.
    • 4 x 60mm M6x1mm hex head cap screws
    • 4 x 40mm M6x1mm hex head cap screws
B Washer Use the included M6 washers.
C Mounting bracket The main unit attaches to the mounting bracket and is secured using the locking mounting clips.
D Luggage rack To install the Genetec Motoscan™, the vehicle must be equipped with a luggage rack.
E Adhesive rubber pad The adhesive rubber pads reduce slippage during operation.
NOTE: The pads are only required if you are installing the tie-down brackets with the flat surface on top, as shown in the image above. If the brackets are inverted, the pads are not necessary.
F Tie-down bracket The tie-down brackets secure the mounting bracket to the vehicle's luggage rack.
G Locknut Use the included M6x1mm nylon-insert locknuts.
Tip: Depending on the thickness of the scooter's luggage rack, you can invert the u-shaped tie-down brackets so that you can control how much of the mounting screws extend below the nuts. Note that if you install the brackets with the flat surface at the top, you must apply an adhesive rubber pad to the flat surface of each bracket.

  3. Fish the main unit cable from the mounting bracket location, through the scooter body to the terminal block location.
  4. Attach the main unit to the mounting bracket and ensure that the cable can reach the main unit cable connection on the Genetec Motoscan™ main unit, and that the cable does not interfere with the operation of the scooter.
