Once the location is selected you can start taking license plate images.

Before you begin

Select a location.

What you should know

The Viewfinder screen displays a live feed from the camera. Once you have taken a picture of the license plate and entered the license plate number and state, you can then save the license plate information to an XML file. Each capture produces its own XML file.

B Camera button
C Delete button
D Save button

Procedure

  1. From the Start page, tap Take Picture.
  2. Position camera as required, and press the Camera button.
You'll have 15 seconds to take a picture before returning to the Start page.
  3. Do one of the following:
    • To delete the image, press 1.

      The Start page appears.

    • To save the image, press 4.

The Save Image page appears, where you can preview the captured image and enter the plate information.

  4. In the Plate field, enter the license plate number.
The Save button is available once you have entered the plate value.
  5. (Optional) In the State field, enter the state value.
The state value is the value you entered in the application configuration file.
  6. Do one of the following:
    • Tap Cancel to discard the captured image and return to the Start page.
    • Tap Save. A message page appears indicating if the save was successful or not, then the Start page appears.
The plate information is exported to an XML file. The path to the file is <Application Folder>\Reads\<ReadId>.xml. For example, if your application folder is ProgramFiles\Mlpi, then the destination folder for all reads is ProgramFiles\Mlpi\Reads.
