Before you can use the Airport Badging Solution to manage airport ID badges, you must connect your plugin role to your DAC service and configure other mandatory settings.
Before you begin
Procedure
- From the Config Tool home page, open the Plugins task.
- In the Plugins task, select the plugin role from the entity browser, and click the Properties tab.

In the Designated Aviation Channeler settings section,
configure the following:
- DAC
- (Read-only) Designated Aviation Channeler (DAC) selected during installation.
- URL
- URL to connect to your DAC.
- Username & Password
- (AAAE only) Credentials to connect to the DAC.
- Sponsor ID & Passcode
- (Telos ID only) Credentials to connect to the DAC.
- Client ID
- Unique ID representing your airport to the DAC.
- Airport ORI code
- Unique code provided by the DAC for your airport to send fingerprint files. ORI stands for "Originating agency".
- Notification port
- (AAAE only) Inbound port for receiving notifications from your DAC.

In the Document management section, configure the
following:
- Document folder
- Folder where documents used for badge applications are kept. These
documents can be images or PDF documents, and are encrypted. They
can only be read by Airport Badging Solution
applications.NOTE: If you have more than one server assigned to the plugin role, the folder must be accessible from all servers. Back up this folder regularly.
- Automatic cleanup
- Turn this option on to automatically delete the documents that are older than a specified number of days. Set the retention period to be at least as long as the validity of a background check, typically two years.

In the Airline codes section, click
Import if you need to update the list of airline
codes.
This list is used to send the CHRC results for approval. The airline codes are standard to all US airports an seldom change. This list is initialized at installation. If your DAC updates this list, they will provide you with a CSV file that you can import here.

In the Disqualifying crime list section, add the crime
types that instantly disqualify an applicant for your airport.
This list is specific to your airport. The verification of an applicant's profile against this list is done manually. Therefore, it is not necessary to match any standard wording. To add a crime description, click Add crime ().
- In the Airport employee privileges section, define the privileges that can be granted to employees working at the airport.

In the Outbound mail server (SMTP) section, configure your
mail server.
The mail server must be configured so you can send emails to the badge applicants. For example, to contact them for an appointment at the badging office.
- Server address
- DNS name or IP address of your mail server.
- Port
- The server port is usually 25, though your mail server might use a different port.
- Use specific credentials
- Select this option if you need specific credentials to log on to your mail server. If you select this option, you must enter a username and a password.
- Sender's email address
- Email address you wan t to show as the sender.
- Use SSL
- Select this option to enable secure communication with the mail server.

In the Badge numbering section, define the parameters for
automatic badge numbering.
- Automatic numbering
- Turn on this option to enable automatic badge numbering.
- Number of digits
- The number of digits you want your badge numbers to have.
- Next badge number
- Click this button to set the number that will be assigned to the
next badge you create.Tip: If the number of badges requested during a year never exceeds 999, you can set the number of digits to 7, and set the start number to the current year times 1000 at the beginning of each year. This way, all badge numbers issued in the same year start with that year. For example, for the year 2022, you would have 2022000, 2022001, 2022002, and so on.
- In the Mapping section, map the badge application fields to custom fields so they can be printed on badges and shown in reports.

In the Genetec ClearID™ web portal section, click
Load key file to connect Security Center to Genetec ClearID™.
Genetec ClearID™ is a self-service Physical Identity and Access Management (PIAM) solution for Synergis™.
The key file is sent to you with your Security Center License Information document.
- Click Apply.

If role failover is required, click the Resources
tab.
Add the secondary servers to the ABS role and ensure that the database is hosted on a different computer and accessible from all servers assigned to the role. For more information, see Setting up role failover.IMPORTANT: The ABS role receives notifications from the DAC. Make sure that you configure your network so that when the ABS role fails over to its secondary server, it continues to receive notifications from the DAC.
