To use the external devices such as the fingerprint scanner and the ID scanner, you need to install the Aware LiveScan, the Aware NISTPack, and the respective drivers for your devices on the computers running the Airport Badging Solution (ABS) plugin.

Before you begin

Ensure the following:
  • ABS plugin installed on all machines where it is needed.
  • All external devices meet the Airport Badging Solution requirements.
  • Valid license to run the Aware software.

The Aware software is needed by the ABS plugin to convert the background data, fingerprints, and signatures into the format required by your Designated Aviation Channeler (DAC).

  • Gemalto driver for your ID scanner (provided by the manufacturer when you purchase your scanner)
  • MorphoKit USB driver for your fingerprint scanner (provided by the manufacturer when you purchase your scanner)

What you should know

The driver for your Topaz signature pad is installed by the Security Center installer program, so you don't need to install it separately.

Procedure

  1. Open the communication port (default = HTTPS 443) on the server hosting the ABS plugin role.
This port is used to communicate with the Background Check Web Service (BCWS) provided by your DAC (AAAE or Telos ID).

For AAAE, this port must also be open inbound to receive notifications from the DAC, but only authorize incoming traffic from the IP address of the AAAE service.

  2. On all workstations connected to a Gemalto ID scanner (M3 CR5400), install the Gemalto driver.
  3. On all workstations connected to a MorphoTop Slim fingerprint scanner, do the following:
    1. Install the MorphoKit USB driver.
    2. Add the path to MorphoKit to the environment variables.
  4. On the servers where the ABS plugin is installed, install the Aware NISTPack 64-bit version.
  5. On all workstations where the ABS plugin is installed, install the Aware LiveScan (Awls) 64-bit version .
  6. Make sure the MorphoKit USB driver and the Aware software are white-listed in your antivirus software.
  7. Verify that the devices you connected to your workstations are detected by your system.
