Before the airport approves a badge application, the applicant must undergo security
checks by government agencies.
What you should know
There are two types of security checks:
- CHRC
- Criminal History Record Check (CHRC). This check is conducted by the Federal Bureau of
Investigation (FBI) and requires fingerprints. You must specify the company to which the
results are to be sent when you request this check.
- STA
- Security Threat Assessment (STA). This check is conducted by the Transportation
Security Administration (TSA).
Procedure
To submit a CHRC:

From the Airport badging management task, select the
applicant's name from the list of companies and employees.
To search for an employee, click
at the bottom of the
list and use the
Search dialog box.

Click the Security
checks tab.

Select CHRC and click Edit security check
().
The
Edit security check dialog box opens.

Click Send the results to, and do one of the following:
- If the applicant's employer is an airline, select the airline from the drop-down
list.
- If the applicant's employer is not an airline, select the airport at the top of
the list.

If the applicant still has a valid CHRC, turn on the Link to exisitng case
number option and enter the Existing case number and
its Expiration date.

If the applicant has a CHRC that is expired, select Use case number for
resubmit.
In this case, a new set of fingerprints is not necessary. The DAC can reuse the
fingerprints associated to the expired CHRC.

If the applicant's employer is not an airline, you can subscribe to Rap Back.
Rap Back (Record of Arrest and Prosecutions
BACK) is a service under the FBI's Next Generation Information (NGI) system
that enables authorized entities to receive ongoing notifications of subsequent criminal
history changes reported for individuals who have submitted fingerprints as part of a
CHRC.NOTE: The Rap
Back option is turned on by default for non-airline employees, and is
unavailable to airline employees.

The applicant's information is sent to the government agency through the DAC. If
there is any issue with the data you submitted, such as missing fingerprints, you
immediately get an error message from the DAC.
To submit an STA:

Select STA.

Click Edit security check ().
The Edit security check dialog box opens.

If the applicant still has a valid STA, turn on the Link to existing case
number option and enter the Existng case
number.

Click .
The applicant's information is sent to the government agency through the DAC. If
there is any issue with the data you submitted, such as an invalid case number, you
immediately get an error message from the DAC.
Results
If the security checks are successfully submitted, the applicant's
Status in the employee list changes from
Pre-enrolled to
Security checks
pending.
After you finish
Wait for the DAC to receive the check results from government agencies. When the
applicant's
Status changes to
Security checks
completed,
proceed to the
application approval.
