You can monitor the status of Genetecâ„¢ Update Service by examining the diagnostic alerts that appear in the notification tray.

The table below lists the diagnostics by errors () and warnings ().

Diagnostic Description
Errors  
Failed to refresh firmware recommendations GUS was unable to obtain the latest firmware recommendations.

Things to validate:

  • Security Center Directory (REST) is configured correctly
  • GUS has a proxy configured, or direct internet access
  • GUS can reach the following endpoint* (Reporting service):

    https://systemreportservices.genetec.com/

Unable to get the latest updates GUS was unable to get the latest updates for Security Center products.

Things to validate:

  • GUS has a proxy configured, or direct internet access
  • GUS can reach the following endpoints* (Updates service):

    https://updaterservices.genetec.com/

    https://updaterservices1.genetec.com/

    https://updaterservices2.genetec.com/

  • GUS can reach the following endpoints* (Storage service):

    https://downloadcenter.genetec.com/

    https://downloadcenter1.genetec.com/

    https://downloadcenter2.genetec.com/

  • Ensure that TLS 1.2 is enabled on the machine
  • Try deleting C:\ProgramData\Genetec Update Service\ InternetCheckSettings.xml and restart the Genetec Update Service and Genetec Update Service Sidecar services
Recommendations:
  • Enable the background check to automatically install the latest GUS and SAMA updates.
Security Center Directory (REST) password not configured The configured Security Center Directory (REST) password is invalid. Use the GUS settings page to enter the valid password.

Communication with the Security Center Directory is mandatory for some connected features.

For example, firmware recommendations, refresh of Security Center license, and more.

Security Center is not activated Security Center does not have a valid license.
Unable to communicate with Main GUS or GUS Proxy There is a problem with the certificate of the Main GUS, GUS proxy, or Security Center. The certificate might not be trusted or it does not match the certificate pinned by GUS. For more information, see Unable to communicate with Main GUS or GUS proxy
Unable to communicate with Security Center There is a problem with the certificate that Main GUS pinned for communicating with Security Center. The certificate might not be trusted or it does not match the certificate pinned by GUS. For more information, see Unable to communicate with Security Center.
Unable to reach the Genetec Update Service Sidecar The GUS Sidecar service cannot start or is unresponsive. Make sure that the service is running.
Warnings  
System is running low on disk space Less than 1 GB of disk space is left on the system drive.
Failed to refresh Security Center license GUS was unable to refresh Security Center license.

  • GUS can reach the following endpoints* (Updates service):

    https://updaterservices1.genetec.com/

    https://updaterservices2.genetec.com/

* Depending on the network restrictions, you might also need access to other endpoints.
