If you forgot your Genetec™ Update Service (GUS) admin password, you can reset it. You must have administrator privileges to modify GUS configuration files.

Tip: To get all log files and configurations files necessary to investigate any Genetec Update Service issues in a zip file, click the Get troubleshooting data in the Settings tab Advanced settings section. For more information, see Configuring Advanced settings

Cause

This issue typically occurs if you forgot your GUS admin password.

Solution

To resolve the issue, do the following:

  1. Go to: C:\ProgramData\Genetec Update Service.
  2. Open GenetecUpdaterServiceParameters.xml using a text editor.
  3. Remove the <Password> parameter.
    NOTE: If the machine is a standalone GUS, you must change <EnrollmentState> to <EnrollmentState>None</EnrollmentState> before restarting the GUS.
  4. Restart the Genetec Update Service.
