Integration overview for the GeoRSS plugin

You can integrate RSS feeds in Security Center using the GeoRSS plugin by following a sequence of steps.

Prepare Security Center
4	Ensure that the expansion server where the plugin will be installed meets the recommended system requirements and is running a compatible version of Security Center.	System requirements for the GeoRSS plugin 3.0. Product compatibility for the GeoRSS plugin 3.0.

6	Grant users the privileges they need to use Security Center. NOTE: Administrators need access to the privileges for plugins. However, there are no special privileges for the GeoRSS plugin. 7	Verify that the Security Center license has a valid certificate for the plugin, by going to the Config Tool home page, clicking About > Certificates, and confirming that GeoRSS is in the list.	The license number is included in the product-release email sent by Genetec Inc. This email also includes links to the plugin download package and other license information. Deploy the plugin

Add RSS feeds to the role

Set up event monitoring (optional)
13	If you want to limit the messages received from an RSS feed so that you only see messages for specific locations and for specific text, add filters to the feed.	Filtering RSS feeds by region and by content.
14	If you want to see GeoRSS events in reports or in the Monitoring task, configure a GeoRSS feed to trigger a custom event.	Create custom events in Security Center. Triggering events from GeoRSS feeds.
15	If GeoRSS feeds are triggering custom events, confirm that you see the triggered events in the GeoRSS events report.	Investigating past GeoRSS events.

Set up your operator workstations
17	Install the plugin on all operators' Security Center workstations.	Downloading and installing the GeoRSS plugin.
