You can configure a GeoRSS feed to trigger a custom event. Then you can use the custom events in creating event-to-actions.

Before you begin

What you should know

Event rules are applied after any filters. This means that if you have a feed that has items all over the country, but you are filtering the feed to show items in one city, the all event rules are applied only to the feed items for that city.

Procedure

  1. From the Config Tool home page, open the Plugins task.
  2. Select the GeoRSS role, and then click the Feeds tab.
  3. Double-click on an RSS feed.
  4. In the Event rules section, click the Add () button.
    The GeoRSS feed dialog box opens.
  5. To trigger an event when an RSS document is published for a specific location, enter the following information:
    Type
    Select Region.
    Region name
    A name for the region for which you want to receive messages. For example: Montreal. The name can contain up to 100 characters, including special characters and accents.
    South West Lat. and Long.
    Defines the southern and western edges of a region. Enter the coordinates of the southernmost point in the Lat. field, and the westernmost point in the Long. field.
    North East Lat. and Long.
    Defines the north and east edges of a region. Enter the coordinates of the northernmost point in the Lat. field, and the easternmost point in the Long. field.
    Custom event
    The custom event that will be triggered by this rule.
  6. To trigger an event when an RSS document is published for a specific location, enter the following information:
    Type
    Select Content.
    XML tag
    The exact name of the tag in the RSS documents.
    Content
    Text found in the tag. Only the RSS documents that contain this text will be shown in your feed. For example, enter "car", and only RSS documents that contain the word "car" in the specified XML tag are displayed in Security Center.
    Custom event
    The custom event that will be triggered by this rule.
  7. Click OK.
  8. On the Feeds page, click Apply to save your changes.
