To create PIV, PIV-I, or CIV-compatible cards, you must create a 128-bit or 200-bit custom card format in Security Center.

Before you begin

  • Configure the Mercury controller.
  • For more information about configuring custom card formats, see Creating custom card formats.
  • The file names for the custom card formats must be "128" or "200", or the HID pivCLASS workstation cannot register the card formats.

Procedure

  1. In Config Tool, create the following custom card formats:
    1. For a 128-bit format, enter the following:
      Name
      Enter 128.
      Description
      Enter a description.
      Code format string
      Leave empty.
      Card format type
      Select Wiegand.
      Format length
      Enter 128.
      Wiegand field
Add a Wiegand field with the following configuration, then click OK:
      Name
Enter a name. In the following example, the name is GUID.
      Mask
      Enter 0-127.
      Representation
      Leave as Hexadecimal.
      Fixed, value
      Leave option off.
    2. For a 200-bit format, download the 200-bit Custom Card Format.zip file from the Genetec™ TechDoc Hub.
    3. Unzip the file to a location accessible by your Security Center client, and then import the 200.xml file in Config Tool.
    4. Click OK, and then click Apply.
  2. For Synergis™ Softwire 11.1 and later, enable the custom card formats on the Mercury controller:
    1. Log on to your Synergis™ unit, and click Configuration > Mercury controller settings.
    2. Expand the Long credential formats section, enter 128 or 200, and click Add. Both card formats can be added if required.
    3. Click Save.
  3. For Synergis™ Softwire versions earlier than 11.1, enable the custom card formats on the Mercury controller:
    1. Go to <IP address>/smc/browser.html#page=/MercuryEP/UnitWide/Browse and click the link on the redirect page.
    2. Scroll down and click either one or both of the following links:
      • Enable 128 bit Custom Card format
      • Enable 200 bit Custom Card format

Results

The custom card format is registered on the Synergis™ unit and synchronized to the Mercury controller.
