Before you can configure and use the plugin,
you must create the plugin role in Config
Tool.
What you should know
- The HTTP Server, TCP Server, and MQTT Protocol are part of the Industrial IoT plugin
role.
- The BACnet, Modbus, OPC Client, and SNMP Manager plugins each have their own plugin
role.
-
IMPORTANT: When creating the plugin role,
be
sure to give the database a unique name to avoid using the same
database. Each instance of the Modbus, BACnet, OPC, and SNMP Manager plugins must have
its own role database, otherwise data corruption
may
occur.
Procedure
-
From the Config
Tool home page, open the
Plugins task.
-
In the Plugins task, click Add an entity
(
), and select Plugin.
The plugin creation wizard opens.
-
On the Specific info page,
select the server on which the plugin role is hosted, the plugin type, and the database
for the plugin role, and then click Next.
If you do not use expansion servers in your system, the Server
option is not displayed.
-
On the Basic information page, specify the role
information:
-
Enter the Entity name.
-
Enter the Entity description.
-
Select the Partition for the plugin role.
If you do not use partitions in your system, the Partition
option is not displayed. Partitions are logical groupings used to control the
visibility of entities. Only users who are members of that partition can view or
modify the role.
-
Click Next.
-
On the Creation summary page, review the information, and then
click Create, or Back to make changes.
After the plugin role is created, the following message is displayed:
The operation was successful.
-
Click Close.
Results
The plugin role appears in the entity browser.
If you selected an input type, the corresponding icon is displayed in the I/O list, next
to the input name. You can change the input type icons on the Input
definitions page of the Intrusion Manager role.
