To collect and organize information from devices that support Modbus, BACnet, OPC UA,
SNMP, HTTP,
MQTT,
or TCP protocols,
you
must use the Industrial IoT installation package to install
the related plugin on a Security Center server and on all client
workstations.
Before you begin
Ensure
the following:
What you should know
- When prompted, select the plugins that you want to deploy. The options include Modbus,
BACnet, OPC Client, SNMP Manager, HTTP Server, MQTT Client, and TCP Server.
- Sharing a database is not supported, and having
more
than one plugin on the same database could
result
in severe configuration issues. This can include
duplicate
devices being generated in Security Center.
- Although
it is possible to host the plugin role on any server,
it is a best practice to host that role on a dedicated expansion server
for best system performance.
- For your operators to
have
access to the features added by this plugin,
you must install this plugin on all Security Center client workstations.
Procedure
-
Open the GTAP Product Download page.
-
From the Download Finder list, select your version of Security Center.
-
Search for your package by name and download it.
-
Click the downloaded .exe file to unzip it.
By default, the file is unzipped to
C:\Genetec.
-
Close all Genetec™ applications and stop
the Genetec™
Server service.
-
Stop all Genetec™ applications,
including Genetec™
Server, Security
Desk, and Config
Tool.
-
Open the extracted folder, right-click the setup.exe file, and
click Run as administrator.
-
Follow the installation
instructions:
-
On the Setup Type page,
you
must select
one
of the following:
- Client
- A client installation installs the client portions of all four plugins
(BACnet, Modbus, OPC Client, and SNMP Manager) in Security
Desk.It
should be selected when installing the plugin on workstations
and servers other than the main server.
- Server
- A server installation is the basic initial install that is required to run the
plugins. It installs the plugins that you select and any supporting
applications, such as RabbitMQ (for Modbus and SNMP)
and
BACstac (for BACnet).
Server
installation should be selected when installing on servers
where the plugin role will be running.
-
On the Select programs to install page, select the plugins
that you want to install.
-
If
RabbitMQ is not configured on your system, a RabbitMQ
Configuration page will be displayed in the installer.
You
must enter a username, password, and a secure connection
port.
-
Follow the installation instructions.
-
To
install
Genetec™ Time Series, do
the following:
- On the Select programs to
install
page, select Install Genetec™ Time Series DB for on-premise Time
Series feature.
- On the Time Series Database Destination Folders page, specify
the folder where PostgreSQL will be installed, and where the PostgreSQL data will be
located.
- On the Time Series Database Configuration page, enter the
password and port that will be used to connect to the PostgreSQL service.

On the Installation Wizard Completed page,
click Finish.

installation.
