To monitor the data points of a OPC UA Server device or entity, you must add them to the device or entity in Security Center.

Before you begin

Procedure

To add a data point to an OPC Client device or entity:

  1. From the Config Tool home page, open the Plugins task.
  2. Select an OPC device or entity.
  3. In the Data points section, click Add a data point ().
    The Add a data point dialog box opens.
  4. Beside the Node ID field, click Open OPC server browser ().
    The Select OPC node dialog box opens.

  5. Select a data point from the browser and click Select.
    In the Add a data point dialog box, the protocol information is filled.
  6. Enter the rest of the information.

    Value type
    The type of information reported by the input (data point).
    Access level
    Indicates whether the selected data point is read-only or read-write. This field is automatically displayed by the plugin role.
    Unit name
    (Optional) The measurement unit of the data point.
    Unit symbol
    (Optional) The symbol representing the measurement unit.
  7. Click Add to add another data point or click Add and Close.
    The data point is displayed in the Data points section.

To add multiple data point at the same time:

  1. In the Data points section, instead of clicking Add a data point (), click () instead.
    The Add data points dialog box opens.
  2. Expand the nodes and select the data points you want to add, and click Add.

    All selected data points are added at the same time.
  3. (Optional) Select the data points one by one and configure the Unit name and Unit symbol.
  4. Click Apply.
