To monitor and generate reports on federated Industrial IoT entities from Security Desk, you must install the Industrial IoT plugin on the Federation™ host and activate the plugin role at least once.

Before you begin

What you should know

  • Industrial IoT entities can only be configured from their local system.

To configure federated Industrial IoT entities, you must use the Remote configuration task.

  • The Federation™ host cannot write on data points of federated IoT devices.
  • Security Desk running on the Federation™ host cannot display in a tile or on a map, the panel showing the data point values of a federated IoT device.

Procedure

  1. Add the Industrial IoT base license to the Federation™ host.
  2. Install the Industrial IoT plugin.
  3. Open Config Tool on the Federation™ host.
  4. Create the Industrial IoT plugin role and make sure it is active.
  5. Set up a Security Center Federation™.
Tip: Create a Security Center Federation™ role for each remote system that has an Industrial IoT plugin role.
  6. Deactivate and then re-activate the Security Center Federation™ roles.
The federated Industrial IoT entities are displayed in the entity browser of the Federation™ host.
  7. Expand the Security Center Federation™ roles on the Federation™ host and confirm that the federated Industrial IoT entities are listed in the entity browser.
  8. If the entities are missing, restart the main server of the Federation™ host.
  9. (Optional) Delete the Industrial IoT plugin role that you created earlier.
  10. In the Monitoring task, add the federated Industrial IoT entities to the event monitoring list.
