Industrial IoT is a building automation and control plugin. With this plugin, you can use Security Center to monitor and control devices that support one of the following IoT protocols: BACnet, HTTP Server, Modbus Client, MQTT Client, OPC Client, SNMP Client, and TCP Server.

Administrator tasks using Config Tool

The following operations apply to all Industrial IoT devices:
  • Enroll devices and add their data points to Security Center.
  • Create virtual devices, called entities, out of a single data point or a set of data points.
  • Poll devices and entities to obtain information about their data points.
  • Create device and entity types to simplify the configuration of large systems.
  • Configure rules to raise custom events or alarms when specific changes in value are detected on data points.
  • Display devices and entities, and their status, on maps.
  • Automatically change map icons of devices or entities when the value of their data points changes.
  • Link cameras to devices and entities to view video associated with alarms and events.
  • Map the values of a data point to standard input states (Normal, Active, Trouble) so you can use it in Security Center anywhere an input can be used.
The following tasks only apply to the BACnet, Modbus, and OPC objects:
  • Configure rules to write on data points, on a schedule or on a Security Center event.
  • Create actions so Security Desk operators can write on data points from contextual menus, anywhere a device or an entity is displayed.
The following tasks only apply to the SNMP and TCP devices:
  • Configure rules to raise custom events or alarms based on events with or without arguments.

Operator tasks using Security Desk

The following operations are available for all supported devices:
  • Monitor the data points of connected devices and entities in real time.
  • Monitor state changes of devices and entities. For example, if they are online, offline, or in a warning state.
  • Receive events and alarms for devices and entities according to the rules configured in Config Tool.
  • On maps, view the status of devices and entities and the current values of data points.
  • On dashboards, view the state of data points in real time or over a specific period1.
  • Generate reports about the health of the plugin, data point activities, and rule activities.

1 To view data over a period of time, you must install Genetec™ Time Series.
