Before you begin

Procedure

  1. From the Config Tool homepage, open the Plugins task.
  2. Select the Industrial IoT plugin role from the entity browser.
  3. In the Devices tab, you can add devices manually or by using the discovery tool. Skip this step if you want to add devices manually.
    1. To use the discovery tool, click on Discover devices(). Only devices communicating with the Modbus protocol can be discovered.
The Discover devices dialog box opens.

      Data point
      Discrete input
Type of data point used for responding to a Modbus query by the connected devices. Choose one of the following:
      • Coil
      • Discrete input
      • Holding register

      Number of registers
It is the number of registers the data point responds to. This field appears if the Holding register or Input Register type of data point is selected.
      Unit ID
Modbus Unit ID between 0 - 255 can be searched to discover devices.
Discover multiple unit IDs per endpoint
