Creating device types from existing devices - Industrial IoT 5.2.3.0 | BACnet | Modbus | OPC Client | SNMP Manager

After you have added a first device to Security Center, you can use it as a model to add other devices sharing the same properties by creating a device type from it.

1. From the Config Tool homepage, open the Plugins task.
2. Select the device that you want to create a device type from and click the Properties tab.
3. Click Create device type from device.
   
4. In the Create device type from device dialog box, enter a name for the device type and click Add.
   The new device type is added to the Device types page of the Industrial IoT plugin role. The device you used to create the device type now inherits the properties of the device type. Any change to the device type properties also changes the device properties.
5. From the entity browser, select the Industrial IoT plugin role and click the Device types tab.
6. Select the device type you added and make additional changes to its properties if necessary.
