For a device or entity to automatically perform an action based on a Security Center event, you can create a rule in Security Center.
Before you begin
- Add your device
- Add data points to your devices and entities.
Best Practice: For optimal performance of the plugin, it is
recommended to limit the number of data points and rules to 5000
respectively.
What you should know
- This type of rule is only available for the BACnet, Modbus Client, MQTT and OPC
Client devices.
- This type of rule cannot trigger alarms, change states, or raise other Security Center events. These operations
actions be performed by creating an event-to-action in the
System task in Config Tool, or in Mission Control.
- The only action supported by this type of rule is Write on a data
point.
Procedure

From the Config Tool homepage, open the Plugins
task.

From the entity browser, select the Industrial IoT plugin role and click the
Rules tab.

In the Rules section, click Add a
rule (
).

In the Information section, enter a name and
description.

In the Conditions section, select On Security Center event from
the Condition list and provide the following
information:
- Select a Security Center
event
- Select the Security Center
event that triggers the action.
- Source
- Select the source entity of the event.

In the Actions section, select Write on a data
point and specify the data point and the value.

(Optional) To add more actions to the rule, click Add
action (
) and configure the action.

(Optional) To duplicate a rule, right-click on the rule and select
Duplicate.

Click Apply.
Results
The rule is enabled by default. To disable the rule, move
the slider to OFF.
Example
To raise the temperature in a room when cardholders enter the building at the start
of the workday, you can create a rule that sets the temperature controller to the
desired temperature when a cardholder badges in.
