For the Genetec™ Industrial IoT plugin to communicate with BACnet devices, you must
ensure that the BACstac (BACnet protocol stack) service is running and that the BACnet
protocol is enabled in the plugin.
What you should know
- The Industrial IoT plugin installation
package starts the BACstac Windows service.
- The BACstac service is installed with the Server version of the Industrial IoT plugin.
- The BACstac service is required for the plugin to communicate with BACnet
devices.
- The BACstac service must run automatically on the server that hosts the Industrial IoT plugin.
Procedure
-
In Windows, open the Services application.
-
Find BACstac Protocol in the
Services list.
-
If you are configuring the plugin server, make sure that the Service
status is Running and the
Startup type is set to
Automatic.
-
From the Config Tool homepage, open the Plugins
task.
-
From the entity browser, select the Industrial IoT plugin role and click the
Protocols tab.
-
In the Protocols list, turn on the
BACnet switch and click
Apply.
-
Configure the following settings and click Apply:
- Polling interval
- The period (in milliseconds) at which Security Center polls the
device.
NOTE: The polling interval is only used when the device does
not support the change of value (COV) notifications.
- Force polling
- If enabled, every data point is polled at a regular interval. If
disabled, subscription to value change is prioritized.
- Request timeout
- Timeout period for every transmission of a request. By default it is
set to 5,000 millisecond.
- Number of retransmissions before failure
- Number of retransmissions of a request after a timeout occurs.
- Maximum number of concurrent requests per device
- It is the maximum number of confirmed requests that a device can
receive concurrently.
- Out-of-service warnings
- Enable this option to provide users with a warning message when the
device is out of service (when the Status is
displayed in yellow). You can override this setting on a per-device
basis.
