Choose your upgrade path based on the version of your current Industrial IoT plugin.

Before you begin

  1. You can upgrade Industrial IoT versions 5.1.0.0 and later using the Industrial IoT 5.2.3.0 installation package. For earlier versions, contact technical support.
  2. Upgrade the plugin on all Security Center client and server computers.
  3. Confirm that your versions of Security Center and the plugin are compatible.
  4. Read the release notes to learn about important information for this release.

What you should know

  • Upgrading the plugin preserves your current devices and entities along with their respective configurations, event notifications and rules.
NOTE: From Industrial IoT 5.0.0.0, you only need one plugin role and database for all IoT protocols. If you are using one of the legacy plugins (BACnet, Modbus, OPC Client, and SNMP Manager), you must migrate their content to the new Industrial IoT database.

Procedure

  1. Open Server Admin, and back up the Directory database.
  2. Back up all legacy plugin role databases.
  3. Deactivate all legacy plugin roles.
    1. In the entity browser, right-click the plugin and click Maintenance > Deactivate role > Continue.
The role is deactivated and greyed out in the entity browser.
  4. Install the new version of the Industrial IoT plugin.
  5. Deactivate the Industrial IoT plugin role, and then activate it.

After you finish

If you have any legacy Industrial IoT plugin roles, such as BACnet, Modbus, OPC Client, and SNMP Manager, migrate them to the new plugin role.
