[KBA-79179] Prevent card credential synchronization when upgrading Bosch intrusion panel extension to 4.4.54.0 and later
The Bosch intrusion panel extension 4.4 automatically pushes Security Center users without PINs when it detects B or G model panels with firmware of 3.10.034 or later. This could lead to unwanted card credentials being pushed, which could overload the panel with users.
Applies to
Bosch intrusion panel extensions upgrading from 4.x to 4.4.54.0 and later.
Cause
The initial PIN-less synchronization feature did not include an opt-out setting. After upgrading, the new toggle option is not selected by default. Manually configure the setting to prevent the synchronization of cardholders with card credentials during the upgrade.
Workaround
When upgrading the Bosch intrusion panel extension:
- Back up the databases (Directory database and Intrusion Manager database).
- Deactivate the Intrusion Manager role.
- Install Bosch intrusion panel extension 4.4.54.0 or later.
- On the Intrusion Manager server, navigate to the install location of Security Center 5.x. The default location is C:\Program Files (x86)\Genetec Security Center 5.x\ConfigurationFiles.
- Create a file "BoschIntrusionExtraConfig.json" with the
content
{"pushCardholdersFromGroupsOnlyIfTheyHavePinOverride":"true"}
- Activate the Intrusion Manager role.
- In the Group mappings section, select the Only
push cardholders with PIN checkbox to synchronize the groups
with only PIN users.Once all the configurations are complete in Security Center, you can remove the .json file.NOTE: Keeping the .json file prevents the synchronization of users without PINs after upgrading. Without this file, the panel starts the synchronization process after upgrading and adds all cardholders, with and without PINs, to the panel.
Status
- Synchronizing card credentials with the panel.
- The user limit on Bosch panels.
- The automatic synchronization of users.
