Secondary lighting effects and background motion can pixelate unintended parts of the image. This behavior depends on the scene and the level of illumination.
Fire and smoke
Fire and heavy smoke are pixelated.
Shadows
Due to necessary illumination, foreground objects might cast shadows that darken or sometimes alter the color of parts of the image. These foreground shadows are pixelated.
Static shadows cast by background objects are incorporated into the background model and are not pixelated.
Reflections
Privacy Protector treats the reflection of a foreground object as a deviation from the background model. These reflected objects are pixelated, which can help ensure privacy when the reflection contains identifying characteristics, such as a face in a mirror.
Moving background objects
Moving objects in the image background, such as trees or clouds, are partially or totally pixelated.
Sudden lighting changes
If image brightness changes significantly, because one or more light sources fail, or are switched off, the areas of the image affected by the change are pixelated until the new conditions are incorporated into the background model.
