To configure the behavior of a cylinder, you must assign an access rule to the related door entity. You can also associate additional hardware to the door, such as a camera, sensors, and request to exit hardware.

Before you begin

What you should know

  • When a Medeco XT cylinder is added, a door entity, reader entity, and an access control unit entity are created and identified by the 9-digit serial number that is engraved on the side of the physical cylinder.
  • A cylinder's door entity is automatically assigned to a reader. If you decide to change the entity, remember that the default entity is no longer in use. It is a best practice to delete any unused entities.
  • A Medeco XT cylinder provides a lock only. It does not include any sensors, inputs, or outputs. If you want to configure the sensors and request to exit on the door entity, you must add the required hardware. Refer to your Medeco documentation and the Security Center Administrator Guide for instructions.
  • A Medeco XT key can only have a single Daily or Weekly schedule that spans a continuous block of time.

Procedure

  1. From the Config Tool home page, open the Plugins task.
  2. In the Plugins task, select the plugin role from the entity browser, and click the Properties tab.
  3. Select the door entity for your cylinder.
  4. Click the Access rules tab, and add a single access rule to the door sides.
  5. (Optional) Click the Hardware tab, and link cameras to the door sides.
  6. Click Apply.
  7. Select the access control unit entity for your cylinder, then do the following:
    1. Set the time zone for the cylinder.
    2. Set the geographical locations of the cylinder.
  8. Click Apply.
