When you insert a key into the USB programming station, nothing happens. The key is not detected, nor do you receive an error message.

Symptom

The programming station is connected to the computer over USB. You insert a key in the programming station, but nothing happens.

Cause

The Medeco XT drivers are not installed on the computer that connects to the USB programming station.

Solution

NOTE: This solution applies to computers that run Microsoft Windows 7, 8, and 10; also Windows Server 2008 R2, 2012 R2, and 2016.
  1. Go to https://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/CDM/CDM21228_Setup.zip
  2. Open the zip file.
  3. Run the setup file.
  4. Follow the instructions in the installation wizard.
