To apply access rules to cardholders when they are in possession of a Morse Watchmans KeyWatcher Touch asset, you must create Morse Watchmans access rules in Security Center.

Before you begin

  • Verify that the Morse Watchmans access rules that you want to create are permitted by your local laws and building code.

What you should know

  • Morse Watchmans access rules are a special type of access rule that can affect cardholders who are in possession of a Morse Watchmans asset.
  • These access rules can be applied on doors and areas near the cabinet to grant or remove access until the cardholder returns the Morse Watchmans asset.
  • The plugin role must be running to create Morse Watchmans access rules.

Procedure

  1. From the Config Tool homepage, open the Access control task and click the Access rules view.
  2. Click Add an entity () and select Morse Watchmans access rule.
  3. In the Add Morse Watchmans access rule dialog box, enter a name for the rule, and then click Add and close.
  4. In the entity browser, click Click here to refresh to show the new rule.
  5. Select the rule that you created and click the Identity tab.
  6. In the Relationships section, do the following:
    1. Select Doors, elevators and areas.
    2. Click Insert an item ().
    3. Choose the entity that the rule applies to and click Select.
    4. Click Apply.

  7. Click the Automatic assignment tab, and use the slider to select whether the access rule applies to All assets or Assets from the list.
NOTE: If you select Assets from the list, click , select the assets that the access rule applies to, and then click Apply.

  8. Click the Properties tab, and select the schedule that applies to the rule.
  9. Choose how the rule is applied to cardholders when the schedule is active:
    Grant access to cardholders
Cardholders who possess assets listed in the Automatic assignment tab are granted access to doors, elevators, and areas.
    Deny access to cardholders
Cardholders in possession of assets listed in the Automatic assignment tab are denied access to doors, elevators, and areas.
  10. Click Apply.
NOTE: The Cardholders affected by this rule section is automatically populated with the names of cardholders who are in possession of an asset. The add, delete, and, edit buttons serve no function.

Example

To avoid having employees leave a building with a Morse Watchmans asset in their possession, you can create a Morse Watchmans access rule that denies access to cardholders. In the Identity tab, you would assign this Morse Watchmans access rule to any doors that can be used to exit the building. In the Automatic assignment tab, you would apply it to all assets. After you configure this, when a cardholder has an asset in their possession, they will be refused access to doors that can be used to exit the building.
