Moving from Security Center Mobile 4.x to Web Client 5.x and Genetec Mobile

Security Center Mobile 4.x is not supported in Security Center 5.8 or later. To start using Security Center Web Client and Genetec™ Mobile, follow this process.

Step Description See
1. Uninstall Mobile Server 4.x Uninstall all the Mobile Servers that you had on your Security Center Mobile 4.x system. Uninstalling Mobile Server in silent mode
2. Uninstall Mobile Server Extension 1.0 If you are using the Security Center Threat Level app, uninstall the Mobile Server Extension 1.0 from the server that Mobile Server 4.x was running on.

By default, the installation package is here: C:\Program Files (x86)\Genetec Security Center Mobile Server Extension 1.0.

3. Make sure you have the right license options Make sure you have the right license options in Security Center for Web Client and Genetec Mobile.
The following license options used to be for Security Center Mobile 4.x and have changed functions in Security Center 5.8 and later:
Number of mobile device servers
Maximum number of servers allowed on your system that can host Mobile Server roles.
Number of mobile devices (product code GSC-1MobileU)
Maximum number of mobile devices that can connect simultaneously to Mobile Server roles on your system, using the Genetec Mobile app.
Number of Web Clients (product code GSC-1U)
Maximum number of Web Client applications that can connect simultaneously to Web Server roles on your system.
4. Set up the Mobile Server role Set up the Mobile Server role in Security Center to manage the Genetec Mobile apps.
  1. Decide how many Mobile Server roles you need and which servers to run the roles on.

    By default, the Mobile Server role is hosted on the main the server in Security Center. You might want to move the role to an expansion server or to a dedicated server that you were previously using for Mobile Server 4.x.

  2. Configure the Mobile Server roles.
5. Set up the Web Client Server role Set up the Web Client Server role in Security Center to manage the Web Client.
  1. Decide how many Web Server roles you need and which servers to run the roles on.

    By default, the Web Server role is hosted on the main server in Security Center. You might want to move the role to an expansion server or to a dedicated server that you were previously using for Mobile Server 4.x.

  2. Create the Web Server roles.
  3. Configure the Web Server roles.
6. Inform your Security Center users about the changes
  • Legacy mobile apps no longer work with Security Center 5.8 or later. Delete the following apps from your mobile devices and install the Genetec Mobile app:
    GSC Mobile (later renamed to Security Center Legacy)
    Mobile app 4.x for Android and Apple devices.
    Security Center Mobile Preview
    Mobile app 4.x for Windows devices.
    Security Center Threat Level
    Security Center Threat Level app that was released in Security Center Mobile 4.1 SR4.
    Genetec Security Center app
    Mobile app that succeeded Mobile app 4.x.
  • The URL for Web Client 4.x no longer works with Security Center 5.8 or later. To log on to Security Center using the new Web Client, you need a new URL.
NOTE: If you are using Security Center 5.11 or later, you can migrate from Web Client to Genetec™ Web App.

Comparing Mobile Server 4.x and Mobile Server role 5.x

If you are upgrading to Security Center 5.8 or later and are replacing your Security Center Mobile 4.x solution, it is important to understand how the Mobile Server role differs from the legacy Mobile Server component 4.x.
