Using the Otis Compass plugin, you must create entities (floors, landings, and so on) in Security Center to match how the physical building structure appears in the Otis CompassPlus™ system.

Before you begin

Obtain the Compass Dispatching Control system diagram from Otis, which explains how the floors of a building are programmed in the Otis system. This diagram refers to floors as "security identifiers" and numbers them between -127 and 127. This diagram also shows the IP addresses of all DECs on each floor.
NOTE: Security identifiers are defined in the Otis Compass system and do not always numerically follow the physical ordering of the floors. For example, the second floor of a given building might be identified as "2," and its mezzanine might be "-2." Different customer sites using CompassPlus™ might use different numbering schemes to describe levels that do not relate directly to floor numbers, like mezzanines, penthouses or sublevels. When programming floors, refer to the Compass Dispatching Control System Diagram you received from Otis with your system.

Procedure

  1. From the Config Tool home page, open the Plugins task.
  2. Select the Otis Compass plugin from the entity browser, and then click the Building tab.
  3. Click Building configuration and enter the following information:
    Group ID
    The elevator group ID.
NOTE: The group ID number in Security Center corresponds to the subnet value of the Destination Entry Computer (DEC) and Destination Entry Servers (DES) from the CompassPlus™ system.
    Elevator count
Number of elevators in the group.
    Floors served
The floors managed by the Otis Compass plugin, using the security identifier to label the floors.
    Front
The elevator's front door opens for this set of floors.
    Rear
The elevator's rear door opens for this set of floors.

  4. Click OK.
The elevator entities are created and appear under the Otis Compass plugin role in the entity browser. In the Building tab, the floors that you assigned to the Otis Compass plugin appear in the Floors section. When you select a floor, the associated landings are displayed, along with the door side that opens.
The Building screen in the Otis Compass plugin showing floors and landings.
  5. In the entity browser, verify that all areas have unique and descriptive names so that they can be easily identified.
  6. Add the DEC that manages the dispatch settings of each landing:
    1. In the Floors section, select a floor.
    2. In the Landings section, select a landing and click Add computer ().

    3. In the Add computer dialog box, choose between creating a new DEC, or using an existing DEC entity.
    • If you are creating a new DEC, type a name and description for the entity, and then type the IP address of the computer.
    • If you are using an existing DEC entity, click Select computer, and then select one of the DECs that were created when the Otis Compass plugin role connected to the CompassPlus™ system.
  7. Click OK, and then click Apply.

After you finish

Create access rules and assign them to the floors.

If your building requirements change, you can add floors, delete existing floors, add landings, and delete existing landings.
