Restricted Security Area Surveillance

Before you can monitor the restricted areas secured by your OPTEX devices in Security Center, you must add each OPTEX device as a tracking system in Config Tool. If you are using the Inter-System Gateway (IS Gateway), you must first add your device to a driver container in the IS Gateway, and then add the driver container as a tracking system in Config Tool.

Before you begin

What you should know

WARNING: If you move a laser on the map in the Config Tool Map designer task, the targets are detected incorrectly. To reposition a laser on the map, set the coordinates from the OPTEX tracking system's Properties page.

Procedure

To add an OPTEX device as a tracking system to Security Center with the IS Gateway:

  1. Log on to the IS Gateway web portal:
    1. Open a web browser and enter the URL https://<GatewayServer>:4242.
<GatewayServer> is the name or IP address of the server hosting the IS Gateway service. The default port is 4242. Use the port you configured at installation.
    2. Accept the security certificate.
    3. On the logon page, enter the Username and Password and click Sign in.
The username and password were assigned during the Inter-System Gateway Configuration step of the IS Gateway service installation.
  2. Add a driver container for the tracking system that you want to add to Security Center:
    1. On the homepage of the IS Gateway, click the Container () tab.
    2. Click the button besides the docker engine label, and then click Add driver container.
    3. In the Add Driver Container window that opens, enter the following information:
IS Gateway web portal - Add Driver Container dialog box.
      Driver
Select the driver that you want to install.
      Version
Select the driver version that you want. The latest version is selected by default.
      Label
The label used to identify this driver container is in the list of containers on the left.
      Port
The port used to communicate with the driver.
      Network adapter
Select the network adapter used by the driver to communicate with the IS Gateway service.
    4. For PIE-1 encoders and RLS-3060H lasers, the OPTEX driver requires a TCP communication port to be exposed to internal port 8080. To expose a port, click Show Advanced, and enter the following information:
      Protocol
      Select TCP.
      External port
The port that will be exposed to connect to the OPTEX device.
      Internal port
The port that is used internally within the driver. Enter 8080.
    5. Click Add.
The IS Gateway immediately downloads the required driver container image from the repository. A notification is shown in the upper right corner of the browser page during the download process.
New driver creation notification for OPTEX in the IS Gateway web portal.

After the download completes, the new driver container is displayed in the list of containers on the left, under the selected docker engine.

    6. Start the driver container. To do so, click the button beside the driver container label and click Start.
NOTE: If you are adding multiple driver containers, make sure that each driver container has a unique port number. This will prevent any port conflicts if multiple driver containers are running at the same time.
  3. Select the driver container corresponding to the tracking system that you want to add to Security Center.
  4. In the Communication section, the Exposed rec events port field shows the TCP port that you exposed when you created your driver container. This value cannot be modified. If you want to change the port, you must create a new driver container.
    Click Add ().

Invert X axis and Invert Y axis
OPTEX devices can be positioned in different ways. Turn one or both of these options on to change the orientation of the target if it is not in its default position. For example, the device can be pointed up instead of down or left instead of right.
NOTE: If you did not expose a port when you created your driver container, you will be prompted to delete and recreate the driver container with the correct configuration.
    For Redscan Mini RLS-2020 lasers:
IS Gateway web portal - Dialog box for adding Redscan mini RLS-2020 lasers.
    Name
Enter a unique name for this device.
    Model

To add an OPTEX device as a tracking system to Security Center without the IS Gateway:

  1. From the Config Tool homepage, open the Area view task.
  2. Click Add an entity (), and then select Tracking system.
The Add tracking system wizard opens.
  3. On the Tracking system information page, enter the following information:
    Type
    Select OPTEX.
    Name
Enter a unique name for this tracking system.
    Model
The model of device that is supported by the RSA Surveillance plugin.
  4. On the Communication page, enter the following information:
    IP address
The IP address of the laser.
    Port
For OPTEX Redscan Mini lasers: The TCP/IP port that the plugin and the tracking system use to communicate. HTTPS must be activated on the laser's web page to enable the secure communication because only HTTP is activate by default.

For OPTEX RLS and PIE-1 lasers: The port used is 50001, which is not configurable. Refer to the documentation that came with your device.

    User and Password
The administrator-level credentials required to log on the OPTEX Redscan Mini driver.
  5. Click Refresh connection status () to connect.
  6. When the connection status turns Online (), click Next page ().
  7. On the Specific configuration page, enter the following information:
    Latitude and Longitude
Enter the coordinates of the device. Coordinates are in decimal degrees using the World Geodetic System (WGS84) format. You can use a web site like https://www.latlong.net/ to find the coordinates of a specific civic address.
    With map
To set the device's position using a map, select With map. In the Map list, choose a georeferenced map. From the map, zoom in and out as needed using the map controls. Click the map to place the device. After clicking the map, the Latitude and Longitude settings are updated with the coordinates from the map.
    Orientation
If the device has a field of view, identify the physical orientation of the device using compass points. For example: If the device's field of view points towards true North, set the orientation to 0 degrees. You can use a compass to find the degrees. Or, select With map, click the green dot, and drag it to the device's orientation.
    Detection area
Specify the detection area of the device, as listed by the manufacturer.
For example, the RLS2020S has a detection area of 95 degrees.
Tip: If you find that the location of a target is consistently incorrect by small amounts, you can change the detection angle to improve the accuracy. From the tests done in our lab, setting an RLS2020S to 90 degrees resulted in the most accuracy.
    Refresh rate
Specify how often detected targets are updated on the map. The minimum is 1 second (default), and the maximum is 5 seconds. If you have many targets, you might prefer that targets are refreshed on the map less often.
  8. On the RSA configuration page, enter the following information:
    Import on map
Select the map that you want to use to display the devices in Security Center.
    Events
Turn on the custom events that you want to monitor for this tracking system.
NOTE: You can modify this later on the Properties page of the tracking system.
    Change color on intrusion
Turn on this option if you want the perimeter to change color when an intrusion is detected, and then choose the color for the perimeter.
This option is available when the laser is set to vertical mode. You set the mode on the device's configuration web page. In vertical mode, the laser creates an invisible wall.
  9. If you selected RLS series as the model on the Tracking system information page, configure the vertical mode on the Vertical configuration page:
    Enable
Set the toggle to ON to enable vertical mode in the RSA Surveillance plugin.
    Vertical view
Select the vertical map on which you want vertical intrusions to be displayed. The map is previewed in the wizard. Clicking the map preview places the device on the map.
    X axis length
Enter the distance represented by the horizontal axis. Click and drag the point to change the length of the axis.
    Y axis length
Enter the distance represented by the vertical axis. Click and drag the point to change the length on the axis.
  10. Click Finish.
The OPTEX device is listed in the Area view entity tree.

After you finish
