Resetting your password for Server Admin in Security Center
If you forget the Server Admin password in Security Center, you can reset it by clearing the old password and setting a new one.
On the main server, open Windows Explorer and navigate to the
ConfigurationFiles folder in one of the following locations:
- Windows 32-bit: C:\Program Files\Genetec Security Center 5.x\ConfigurationFiles
Windows 64-bit: C:\Program Files (x86)\Genetec Security Center 5.x\ConfigurationFiles
- Open GenetecServer.gconfig in Notepad.
<genetecServer, set the
<passwordelement as follows:
<password password="" encrypted="false" />
Save and close the file.
The old password has been cleared. You can now open Server Admin without a password.
- Log on to Server Admin.
- In the Connection settings section on the Overview page, click Modify next to the Password field.
In the Change password dialog box, enter a new password as
prompted and click Save.
NOTE: Because the current password is blank, do not specify anything in the Old password field.
- Click Save.
