SDS Guardian

Integrating an SDS Guardian system in Security Center consists of a series of steps that must be followed in sequence.

Understand prerequisites and key issues before deploying
1 Before installing the plugin, read the release notes to learn about new features and to understand the requirements and known issues.
2 Learn about the different components and how they connect together.
3 Learn what you can do using the plugin.
Deploy and configure your SDS Guardian system
4 Ensure that the Guardian sensors and Guardian Gateway are compatible with the SDS Guardian plugin version 3.1.
5 Ensure that your SDS Guardian system is operating as required by your organization, and that all of its devices are operating as expected and are available in Guardian Gateway.

Prepare Security Center
6 Verify that your Security Center license has a valid certificate for the SDS Guardian plugin. From the Config Tool home page, click About > Certificates to confirm that Guardian Gun Shot is on the list.
  • The license number is included in the product-release email sent by Genetec Inc. This email also includes links to the plugin download package and other license information.
  • If you need a new license, refer to License options for the SDS Guardian plugin.
7 Ensure that the expansion server on which you install the plugin meets the recommended system requirements and is running a compatible version of Security Center.
8 In Security Center, add an image of your floor plan as a map.
9 If you have video surveillance cameras, ensure that the Omnicastâ„¢ features are enabled, and that all cameras are added to Security Center and are functioning as required.
10 Grant users the privileges that they need to use Security Center.
NOTE: Administrators need access to the privileges for plugins. However, there are no special privileges for the SDS Guardian plugin.
For a list of all available privileges, refer to the Security Center privileges spreadsheet for your version.
Deploy the plugin
11 Ensure the Security Center server on which you install the plugin meets the recommended system requirements and is running a compatible version of Security Center.
12 On the Security Center server, download the plugin and install it.
13 In Config Tool, create the SDS Guardian plugin role.
14 (Optional) Configure the SDS Guardian plugin to automatically bookmark video when a gunshot is detected and to trigger an alarm when a sensor health warning occurs.
Connect the plugin to the Guardian Gateway
15 Connect Security Center to the Guardian Gateway server.
16 Ensure the TCP connection timeout is properly configured.
Add Guardian sensors to Security Center
17 Import Guardian Sensors into Security Center.
18 (Optional) Link cameras to Guardian Sensors in Security Center, so you can view video when gunshot events and alarms are triggered.
19 Add Guardian Sensors to the map to match the physical position of the sensors.
20 In the Security Desk Monitoring task, add the sensor entities to the Event monitoring list and enable alarm monitoring.
Confirm that the integration works as expected
21 Confirm that the sensors work as expected.
  • For testing procedures, refer to your Guardian documentation.
22 In Security Desk, confirm that you see the gunshot icons on the floor plan map, and that you can acknowledge the gunshot alarms.
23 Confirm that you see gunshot events listed in the event pane of the Monitoring task and in the SDS Events Report task.
Set up operator workstations
24 Install the plugin on each Security Center client workstation from which operators will monitor gunshots.
25 In the Monitoring task of Security Desk, add the sensors to the Event monitoring list and enable alarm monitoring.
26 Confirm that your workstation works as expected. If it does, you have successfully completed the integration.
